TaqMan® OpenArray® Genotyping Platform
For SNP Analysis
Starting late Fall of 2009, the Duke University DNA Analysis facility will be testing an TaqMan® OpenArray® Genotyping Instrument from Applied Biosystems.
“The TaqMan® OpenArray® Genotyping System provides PCR-based SNP analysis of hundreds to thousands of samples and candidate SNPs. Researchers can test up to 144 samples against 16 unique TaqMan® Genotyping Assays on a single TaqMan® OpenArray® Genotyping Plate. Three TaqMan® OpenArray® Plates can be imaged simultaneously on the OpenArray® NT Imager, providing high-throughput results with ease. The system workflow requires thermal cycling and fluorescent imaging of TaqMan® Genotyping Assays. Results are captured on the PC, and the OpenArray® Genotyping Analysis Software enables researchers to view specific assay data and scatter plots.” Applied Biosystems.
An Openarray system is a medium to high-throughput platform for performing SNP analysis at very low cost. The minimum sized project for this system is 480 samples x 16 SNP’s.
